Take Some Time To Pause

The Courage Of A Queen

No matter how many times I watch the movie, "One Night With The King" never gets old. The movie portrays the life of the young Jewish girl, Hadassah. Because of circumstances beyond her control, she was chosen to be the Queen of Persia.

Esther’s' story reminds me of us - yes; you and me. There are situations in our lives that we did not sign up for. One of them is the journey through menopause. This is one expedition we would skip if given the chance.

Menopause is not a disease, it is a natural biological process where menstruation and fertility permanently cease. Some women feel relieved because they no longer need to worry about pregnancy. But for others, menopause has thrown them into a tail spin. There are countless women who are suffering in silence, feeling isolated and powerless.

Back to Esther, I’ve noticed that before she became queen, she went through a period of preparation. The Bible says in Esther Chapter 2, twelve months: six months of oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odors and with other things for the purifying of the women.

Twelve months, does it really take all that? Perhaps there is a connection to the length of time of Esther’s purification and the ceasing of our menstruation? Remember that menopause happens when a woman’s cycle has stopped for one year (twelve consecutive months).

Esther was being prepared for her earthly king. Could it be that we are being prepared for our Heavenly King? The season of menopause has so many facets. I’ve found that it summons things from deep within. There are issues of heart that lay dormant, because we were busy taking care of everyone else; they were set aside. So, our season of menopause, where several things may cease is one if we take advantage of it affords the chance to unlock some things that have been buried, things that if not address, can be keep us from our divine destiny. Spend time with ‘The King’, and you’ll discover that you too have the courage of a queen.
